Introduction
In February 2002, Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved project titled "Establishment of Endowment Fund for Higher Education & R&D for IT & Telecom Sector” for PIEAS. Initially sponsoring authority for this project was Ministry of Science and Technology. However, later it was handed over to HEC. PIEAS is successfully executing this project since 2002.
Objectives
PIEAS IT & Telecom Endowment Fund aims to strengthen university financial ability to offer IT & Telecom sector programs and enhance research in this sector. In particular, we aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Providing financial support to students desiring higher education in area of IT and Telecom sector such as;
- Cyber Security
- Software Development
- Development of Computer Algorithms
- Machine vision & Image Processing
- Medical Imaging
- Industrial Automation
- Computer Simulation
- Digital Signal Processing
- Laser communication
- Artificial Intelligence
- Supporting PIEAS for up-gradation of IT infrastructure and laboratories
- Supporting PIEAS for up-gradation of its Library
- Providing quality manpower for IT & Telecom sector for strategic organizations like PAEC, NESCOM, SUPARCO, KRL and other organizations of Pakistan
- Financing research and innovation that supports economy of knowledge-based society and the development of our country
- Attracting and providing incentives to distinguished faculty members and researchers and supporting them to excel in their careers
